England do a Phoenix...

England has won the urn again. Not the most comprehensive of series wins as they had to dig deep to survive the first test which Aussies should have won. It sounds like a closely fought series, considering the scoreline is narrow. But this in no way compares to the 2005 edition which is still the best test series I have ever watched. For the simple reason that the Aussie team then was more stronger and that meant England had to play above their abilities to win. And fortunes swung more often in favour of either sides in 2005. Aussies got a raw deal with umpiring in the last test this ashes but hardly anyone would complain. It's so amazing to see so many people like them lose.
I am tempted to say that comparing 2009 ashes with 2005 would be comparing Fedex vs Roddick this year and Fedex vs Nadal last year at wimbledon. But I won't do that as Fedex vs Roddick this year was surely more exciting than the ashes that followed !!

What's on the tube

Apparently, the biggest breaking news has been H1N1. To be honest, I first thought it’s some US visa category. But it’s quite sad that it’s so dreadful. There are umpteen viewpoints in media on this. The underlying message is to not panic at the virus. But their flash news reads—“2nd Swine Flu death in Bangalore”. How will any1 not panic at such flashes on your tv screen. NDTV, CNN IBN and Times Now should stop sensationalizing news and do some meaningful journalism. I consider these news channels to be viruses more dangerous than the one that affects respiratory system in pigs. May be they should cover the current drought in the country more leaving less space for H1N1 and shahid & priyanka to market kaminey. Incidentally the reviews for the movie have been very good. I haven’t seen jab we met itself yet which was tipped 2 be good. Cannot still consider shahid kapoor as a hero of a movie (after experiencing goose bumps with Rajni’s intro songs. :P) and I hate priyanka after her scene with akshay in a movie called waqt or something where they compare their swimming pools to claim who is poorer (supposedly a pathos scene).

Indian cricketers are probably next in the line of hypocrites for dis-agreeing to the doping code. This is the flip side of the fame we all pour on them. One tends to consider saina nehwals and abhinav bindras above our cricketers when they show such attitude even though I am an ardent cricket fan.

Made sure I tuned to NGC’s programme yesterday on Machu Pichu..such a splendour in Peru. For people like me, the place become known only coz of Endhiran shooting there. Pirated version of the making of the song shot there is available on you tube but not much clarity. Can hardly make out ARR’s tune or VM’s lyrics. I was so excited it was out on web only to be disappointed later. Waiting for songs of Endiran and Raavan to be out as their combo weaves magic more often than not !
